Summer Showcase August 26th
Our Student and Profesional Showcases that takes place bi-annually are marvelous opportunties to see dance performances in all styles from a community of all ages and levels. Performing in a showcase is one of the most exhilarating experiences for a ballroom dancer. It has the audience of a competition and expertise of a judge without the pressure of scoring. This is the best opportunity for any dance student to shine and show off their love of dance and all of the time they have taken to learn. It sometimes can lead to more competitive dancing and continued mastery of what we consider the greatest art form a person can pursue.
WHAT IS A SHOWCASE?
For professional and amatuer dancers who are training for competition, this is an opporunity for them to practice for their upcoming performance in a non-competitve, fun environment, with the pressure of an audience. These dances may include teachers with students, two professionals, or two amatuers.
For Dancessense Studio students who are in performance classes this is the time to show off all of the lovely steps and technique learned in class. These students may be testing the waters for future competition or just wanting to have fun in a performance context. Our youth class is always a crowd favorite!
For other community performance groups, Dancessense offers a stage to display talents in activites like hoop dancing, afro-brazialian, and all other types of movement (we love our floor - no tap shoe performances here).
WHAT TO EXPECT
Dancers, judging will be done by the esteemed Maria Hansen, former National Champion in Smooth and Rhythm. It's best to plan to enjoy the entire afternoon with us in order to prepare for your performances and support your fellow dancers.
Attendees, plan for a fantastic afternoon of performances, dancing and some refreshments. Since we allow entries up to the week of the event, we reveal the times of friends and families performances only a few days before the event.
WHAT TO WEAR
It's summer and we're expecting some heat so make sure to dress casual and cool. The event will be indoors with air conditioning, however, it's would be a good idea to account for the activity of the dancing to warm the studio up a bit.
SIGNING UP TO PERFORM
To ensure you have the most time to prepare for your performance, make sure to let us know and reserve your spot as soon as possible. Please visit the studio to talk to Melissa about any questions or conerns you might have and make payments.
